Robotics Scientist (Boston or Berlin)

Robotics Scientist (Boston or Berlin)

We’re changing how machines move through unstructured environments – whether on the factory floor or in simulation. Built on next-generation computer processing and state-of-the-art software algorithms, our collision-free motion planning solutions make it possible for robots and other machines to instantly react to their environments and compute how and where to move as their situation is changing. We’re revolutionizing manufacturing by enabling close collaboration between robots and their surroundings, regardless of the robot brand.

Reporting to the Director of Robotics Engineering, the Robotics Scientist will be responsible for designing and implementing core algorithms for motion planning, trajectory optimization, execution monitoring, multi-robot coordination, control, and interfacing with industrial robots. This will include direct and indirect communications with industrial robot manufacturers, integrators, and application-side technical experts. In this position, you will:

  • Design and implement high-performance algorithms for all aspects of motion generation on high-speed, industrial robots.

  • Develop software that communicates with different industrial robots over a variety of protocols.

  • Work with robot manufacturers to troubleshoot issues with robot performance and stability.

  • Support field engineers to solve customer's automation challenges using Realtime's technology.

  • Help determine new features and development for an exciting, fast-moving technology company!

Required:

  • MSc / PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field, with substantial in-depth experience in robot motion planning and control.

  • At least one prior professional experience using C++.

  • At least one prior (university project, academic, or professional) experience in deploying a robotics application.

The position could be a great match if you have:

  • Strong algorithmic skills

  • Strong software engineering habits

  • Experience working in linux environments

  • Experience with realtime operating systems (RTOS) a plus

  • Robot-specific knowledge/experience

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced startup environment
